Messages from Head of School:
Be Known • Be Challenged • Be Transformed
I invite you to visit Maranatha High School, to ask questions, and to learn about our school -- a community that is committed to shaping hearts and minds for Christ and to making a difference in our world.
In my 40 years at Maranatha, it has been a daily encouragement and a great blessing to see students face challenges and be transformed by overcoming life’s obstacles through their growing faith in Christ.
Maranatha High School is a community that is based on student centered learning. Our faculty and staff come alongside our students to inspire, equip, and guide them. Our philosophy to training the whole student academically, socially, physically, and spiritually, permeates our curriculum, activities, and opportunities for students. We call this the Maranatha Difference. Students are placed in an Advisory Group upon enrollment at Maranatha, with students of the same graduating year and gender. The advisor guides these students through their four-year experience at Maranatha (Be Known). Our students are challenged to grow in their passions and capacities through our ten academic departments, over 40 AP and Honors classes, our TILE Lab (Technology Integration Learning Environment), our outstanding Visual & Performing Arts program, through our competitive Athletic program as well as our vibrant clubs and leadership programs (Be Challenged). Our committed faculty, staff, and coaches optimize these opportunities for our students: in their commitment to partner with our students; in their passion for their field; and in the modeling of their faith daily (Be Transformed).
At the end of Maranatha’s first year of existence, these words were penned: “The spring of 1966 finds Maranatha completing its first year. The Maranatha school board and faculty are dedicated to the task of training the whole student academically, physically, socially, and spiritually. Our students are constantly challenged by the name Maranatha, which means ‘The Lord Cometh,’ so that while they wait for Christ’s appearing they will also prepare to be in the world as witnesses and ambassadors for Christ as they receive ‘Christian Education for Leadership,’ the motto of Maranatha High School.”
These words have rung true throughout the many decades of our school, especially today in the world we face with all its uncertainties. Our students are known at Maranatha by their teachers and staff, challenged to live out their faith daily by our curriculum, and are being transformed into the persons God is calling them to be. I invite you to come experience for yourself The Maranatha Difference, that which makes our school a community unlike any other.
